Lloyds PPI was often sold as a single premium insurance, meaning that, on average, an extra 30% of what you borrowed may have been added to your loan. If so, you would have been charged interest on that extra sum as well. For example, if you borrowed £5,000 they may well have added £1,500 to your loan for PPI. This means that you actually borrowed £6,500 even though you only received £5,000 in cash.
